Miss Peyton's Shower | Part Two

Thursday, June 25, 2015
Since I couldn't fit everything onto the first post, this is part two of my baby shower prettiness! I can't believe it was almost a month ago, time is flying by and I feel like i'm scrambling to finish everything for little P!

Soon I will be posting on my, hopefully, finished nursery and some must have products I purchased :)

Fell in love with this design from Etsy, find it HERE
My parents yard worked perfectly
Gorgeous fabric banner two of Rod's sisters made for me, It is now in Peyton's room behind the crib!
Fruit baby from my Mom!
Loved my table runners

It has been her and I since 1989 :)
Couldn't have asked for a better picture with my Grandma
So lucky to have gained these 3 sisters and 3 nieces with the Brewster family, NO ONE compares, sorry ;)

I'm sure I said it in the first post, but everything was perfect and I loved every minute of it! I am really happy that I decided to do the shower a little earlier, at 7 1/2 months, because it still took me a day or two to recover.  I can't imagine having it any later! I think the best advice I can give is to definitely have your man come at the end to help you open the presents and share in the awkward-ness, at least for me, of opening gifts in front of everyone. It is also just really nice to have the help because it does get overwhelming! I'm sure other mommies can agree ;)

#TravelTuesday | Tulum, Mexico

Tuesday, June 23, 2015
"Traveling is one of the only things you can buy that makes you richer." This is one of my favorite quotes because although it may drain your savings, like mine, I wouldn't take any of it back. I was so scared of traveling when I was young and it is so true that once you start, you'll wish you started sooner! I have been to 18 countries and only 13 states in the U.S., which also translates to 7% of the entire world, talk about feeling small!

So for #TravelTuesday I want to highlight each country with my top restaurants and things to see/do. Not gonna lie, I'm also doing it because I need to remember that my traveling life is NOT over just because I will have a child....right?? RIGHT??!?!! lol

TULUM, MEXICO | 4.19.15-4.27.15

|  S t a y  |

1. The Beach Tulum Hotel $$$$ - It is an adults only hotel but has got to be my favorite hotel in Tulum, both for location and style. They have beach front rooms and balcony terraces along with amazing food and great vibes at Ziggy Beach Club. Even just visiting and having lunch at Ziggy Beach and then lounging on there beach beds is worth it!

2. Papaya Playa Hotel $$ - Run by the same owners as The Beach Hotel, this eco-friendly hotel has a lively bar scene ( which in Tulum means soft dance beats while having a cocktail or glass of wine). For the beach front location, ambiance and food, I would say this hotel is easiest on the wallet and great on the eyes. Only downfall is that there is no pool but most of these beach front hotels don't have or need one!

Some others I would recommend would be:

3. Parayso Hotel & Spa $- LOCATION!! Right in the midst of everything, beachfront, ocean views. Best bang for your buck in my opinion!
4. Dreams Resort $$$$- Family Friendly, all inclusive, secluded and 15min from main Tulum.
5. Casa Violeta $$- Beach front, in the heart of Tulum.

|  E a t  |

1. Hartwood - One of, if not thee most popular restaurant in Tulum. Known for there ever changing menu and fresh local produce served daily. No advance reservations are taken so make sure you go at 3pm to put your name in for a table that same evening. They are open between 6pm- 11pm and closed Mondays & Tuesdays. Truly a must for all foodies out there!

Grilled Octopus | A staple of Hartwood

2. Ziggy's- A part of The Beach Hotel, Ziggy's is an upscale Mexican cuisine with yummy frozen drinks (I had the virgin banana coconut colada) and addicting margarita concoctions. This is a restaurant where you have your feet in the sand and the views of the Caribbean.

3. Gitano- If your feeling fancy, this is the restaurant to wear those heels you regretted bringing! A place for both elegant dining and cocktail bar for dancing, I would definitely recommend this place for a night out Tulum style. The drinks are pricy so be prepared but very worth it!

4. El Tabano- Great place for lunch to grab some imaginative Mexican cuisine. Watermelon Gazpacho and Shrimp with Habanero Butter are at the top of my favorites!

5. Restaurare-  They don't have a website but this is a must for the vegans and vegetarians out there. A fresh Vegan cuisine from local farmers markets, with dishes like Banana & Amaranth pancakes or the Vegan Baja Tacos, Restaurare is sure to impress.

1. Cenotes- They are everywhere! With so many to chose from you really need to do the research on where they are, what time they close and which places are worth it! Being 6 months prego I couldn't do the crazy underwater cenotes that required scubas but I found a few that are definitely worth seeing.

Ik KilSuch a beauty if it's not to crowded and they offer super tasty, real fruit, frozen treats. Definitely a drive up to the Yucatan area but a perfect stop on the way back from visiting the always scorching, Chichen Itza pyramid.
Gran Cenote- A short distance from Tulum, this was a perfect spot for a dip after a beach day. Also, if you go after 3pm it's not too crowded which is always nice.

Yal- Ku Lagoon- It is hidden but you can ask the front desk or do some research to find the location if you don't want to take a tour. This is just outside of Tulum, in Akumal, a perfect spot for kids in a large enough area to explore freely.

Other Cenotes I would have loved to visit:

Cenote Dos OjosA MUST for divers and one of the most popular cenotes to visit this cenote is still in the top 10 list of longest underwater sea caves in the world.

Calavera Cenote- Right in Tulum, this cenote requires you to either jump into the hole on top of it or climb down the flight of stairs.

Cenote Labnaha Eco Park- Also in Tulum, I would have loved to explore this tunnel of sea caves but it was a little much for my tummy and I haha. The Eco park requires a full day tour of $89 US but includes two other cenotes (Cenote Sagrado & Magic Cenote), snorkel equipment, life jackets, lunch and lockers.

2. Chichen Itza- A far, non-scenic, drive from Tulum so be prepared. This is suppose to be concerned one of the newest seven wonders of the world. It is pretty amazing but the heat and humidity really gets ya (especially pregnant), stopping at a cenote after is a must!

3. Playa Del Carmen- Just 30 minutes from Tulum, it's an easy drive to spend a day or two in this now bustling, tourist filled city. My favorite parts of Playa del Carmen:

Mamitas Beach Club, where we got a bed, stuffed our faces and relaxed all day

The Palm at Playa- If we weren't staying at a friends beautiful condo, we would've stayed here. Amazing food, beautiful view and across the street from the beach (which in my opinion isn't that great compared to Tulum!). The rooftop does become a party on the weekends with a DJ but is open to the public anytime.
5th Avenue shopping

Sur Steakhouse

Main street in Playa is 5th avenue, theres tons of shops, restaurants and bars for everyone. Our favorite was Sur Restaurant, the vibe at night is perfect for drinks and apps with friends or a romantic dinner.

A few random shots:

I would definitely go back and hope this helps anyone planning a trip to Tulum or the surrounding areas (Playa Del Carmen and Cancun). It was a perfect baby moon!

Happy Friday! Lately (since I got pregnant) I have been completely obsessed with Etsy because I love getting unique items made for me as well as supporting those who have talents they are putting to good use! Here are some items I HAD to recently purchase for little miss Peyton, as well as some extras that I'm still waiting for or have my eye on!

Click on the links at the bottom for details

#FridayFavorites : Etsy

It's amazing how talented and creative people are, I'm loving the boho chic vibe and probably have 12 of the Mint and Arrows "tupac" head wraps haha. The swaddle/receiving blanket by ThePersonalizePlace is a favorite as well, perfect size and feels amazing. Lastly, all the toys from Bannor Toys are organic and covered with a natural beeswax and flaxseed oil!

Happy Weekend!

32 Week Bumpdate!

Monday, June 15, 2015
So I really intended on re-starting the blog earlier in my pregnancy but I didn't expect how fatigued and sick I would be in the first trimester until about 16 weeks! On top of that I had work 3-4 nights a week, a full load of classes for my PR major and we were planning our move to our house in Redondo Beach. Needless to say, I had to put this on the back burner till I could put more time into it.

That being said I wanted to post a couple past pictures from weeks 6, 16, 20, 24 and now 32! It's really beautiful what our bodies can do and am blessed that it could happen so fast for us!

I can't believe how fast the time has gone!! Here's 32 weeks/8 months!!

I don't feel like I grew much from 28 to 32 weeks but she did seem to fill up my entire stomach instead of just the lower half! Rib kicks are fun...

How Far Along?

32 weeks, officially 8 months!! Woooo hooo!!

Total Weight Gain?

12 lbs, I was actually concerned about it because I'm seriously eating everything!! However, my doctor says she's measuring perfectly so that's all that matters. I think eating really small meals every two hours is working for my metabolism...I've never been a small meals person but maybe I should keep it going after the baby!

Maternity Clothes?

I have 1 pair of Pea in the Pod jeans and 1 pair of shorts. As well as a pair of black maternity leggings from Target. I refuse to get anything more but even those are starting to not fit anymore!!! My hips have expanded so much since I bought them, sometimes I just wear my old jeans and a long shirt so I don't have to button them ;) On another note...my rib cage has expanded a lot as well so I opted to buy a couple nursing bras instead of bigger standard bras. I'm hoping my rib cage goes back to normal right after baby, any of you mommies experience the same?

Gender?

A baby mermaid ;)

Cravings?

Fruit fruit fruit....I'm definitely lucky! Cherries, watermelon, strawberries, grapes, peaches and bananas...can't get enough! Oh and maybe the occasional donut and cheesecake froyo with yogurt chips and butterfinger from Yogurtland (which is definitely a craving because I ALWAYS get tart with fruit).

Miss Anything?

Oh my goodness, soft cheeses, handcrafted cocktails and wine!! Haha granted I know your allowed to have a glass of red wine here and there but as a first time mom I think I'm just really paranoid.

I do still feel pretty good but am really missing the feeling of my normal body and being able to hit the gym as hard as I used too (I get winded putting my clothes on!).

Baby Brain?

Ok so this could also go under "best moment this week" but it's only considered funny because I got lucky!!! First I didn't pay the parking meter in LA, on 3rd street, on a Sunday for over 2 hours!!!! And I got no ticket!! This is truly a rare event and complete blessing!

Second, is reallllly embarrassing and very bad. I was in such a rush at the next spot I went to that I left my keys in the ignition and car unlocked.....yaaaa I know. It's bad. Sooooo I'm getting close to losing my driving privileges haha.

Exercise?

To be honest I've had such a hard time with exercising my entire pregnancy. I'm normally at the gym 3-4 times a week not including Pilates and yoga sessions. Yes I know it's good for you and helps you a lot during birth but I can't get the motivation or the energy! It doesn't help that since hitting the third tri, I've started getting nauseous again,  headaches and moments of losing my breath. Fun stuff.

Symptoms?

The biggest symptom with the third tri is how hot I get!! All that extra blood you get is no joke, as if I didn't have a hard time sleeping already. At least I have Monty (my Python sized preg pillow haha). I also have been getting migraines and was told to take a Tylenol with a little cola which helps a ton! I went to the ER because I was concerned about high blood pressure since I had thrown up and had all the other symptoms but everything was fine. Worry wart over here!

Mood?

Anxious!! I still need to organize her drawers and start putting my hospital bag together so shit's getting real!

Baby Movement?

When is she not moving?! Peyton moves EVERY hour and has hiccups 3 times a day. Haha it's really cute. Seriously though, even my doctor says she is extremely active, the first kicks I felt from her were at 14 weeks!! Rod felt her kick at 16 weeks, and we even have a video of a crazy kick outside my stomach at 17 weeks. She's a muscle baby for sure!

Best Moment This Week?

The past couple weekends were both my baby showers (1 for family and 1 with my work fam) so even though I didn't expect to be soooo drained the next day, they were super fun! Another moment would be when Peyton stuck her foot so far out of my side I kinda freaked out and immediately pushed it back in lol, the movie Aliens came to mind! Haha

Looking Forward To?

As weird as it is to say, I'm really looking forward to breastfeeding and having that skin to skin closeness. I've been dreaming about being a mom since I was a toddler, with my set of quince dolls, so I'm looking forward to every thing about being a mom!
Real Talk?

I took a breastfeeding class (and infant CPR class), which I considered necessities. I definitely suggest these to give you more confidence and especially to know that breastfeeding should NOT hurt or your doing it wrong. It does hurt for the first little bit but you should not be in pain or have cracked nipples ( TMI sorry).
I also am not going to lie, I'm kinda bummed that we are so behind other countries when it comes to breastfeeding. I'm going to push/hope for a year of breastfeeding (with solids incorporated obviously) but don't understand why we think it's weird to breastfeed longer, I see nothing wrong with it if it's just at night before bed especially. No I'm not a mom that wants my child with teeth running up to me and pulling down my shirt but I could only see benefits of incorporating it still after a year. Anyway, no judgements either way but it's been on my mind!

Miss Peyton's Shower | Part One

Friday, June 12, 2015
Also known as my Pinterest shower! haha, Life will never be the same ;) That being said, I couldn't be happier with how my baby shower turned out, everyone involved went above and beyond and really made it memorable!!

The shower was a beachy mermaid theme because we love the beach lifestyle and the whole Brewster clan is a family of surfers not to mention my baby daddy went pro in the past. In other words, she will be learning to surf at a very young age!

My amazing dessert table!!
Prettiest diaper cake I have ever seen, made by soon to be grandma  :)

Chocolate Covered Strawberries, Macarons, "Oyster" Cookies and "Sand Dollar" Cookies
One of my favorite pieces from the shower, handmade cake and decor by Rod's little sis Natalie

Dress: Angl | Tiny Locket Necklace:  Catbird | Letters Necklace: Maya Brenner | Name Plate Necklace:  Etsy
As someone who has been planning and dreaming about a baby and having a baby shower my whole life, it was perfect. Little miss Peyzie can't arrive soon enough!
