All Things Baby | Baby Gear Essentials!

Wednesday, July 1, 2015
Morning beauties! Nesting is something I think I've been doing for the last 10 years haha, however it was a little overwhelming going through all the reviews to find the essentials I needed. There is also a lot of questions you have to start asking yourself...are you planning on breastfeeding? Glass or plastic bottles? Are you going to use cloth diapers or disposables? Everyone chooses a different route, this is mine! :)

Boobs & Bottles:

I've heard nothing but good things about the Medela brand and after going to a breastfeeding class, I made my decision to go with them. I plan on trying to breastfeed as much as possible but everyones different and I know this mama will definitely need a drink or two at some point ;) Besides, It is good for the baby daddy to be involved in feeding as well, such a sweet bonding time!

The nursing pads have a lot of mixed reviews, I wanted something a little more comfortable and natural instead of going with the Lansinoh Disposables. However, I might have to change them if I leak more than expected since I've been told the natural pads can soak through, I guess I'll just have to carry an extra set! With nipple cream, it was between Boob-ease or the Honest Company nipple balm, I know Lansinoh Lanolin and Mustela have been popular too but I wanted to go the more natural route and was also told that those brands tend to be thick and sticky.

After hearing all my mommy friends' opinions, I decided to go with the Tommee Tippee bottle because it seemed to be the most popular among 2nd time mothers. Dr. Browns is another good brand but I've been told that some babies just didn't take to it and that's when they reverted to Tommee Tippee. In my breastfeeding class she really said both those brands are amazing but to make sure you ALWAYS get the slow flow nipple for the first 0-8 months because your baby is used to the controlled slow flow of your own breast, going to a medium or fast might be overwhelming until they reach 8-10 months. She also said the best way to feed is 10-15 seconds in and then out, to give the baby a chance to breathe and swallow in between. Just a few tidbits ;)

1. Tommee Tippee Sensitive Tummy
2. Tommee Tippee Slow Flow Nipple
3. Tommee Tippee Microwave Steam Sterlizer

As far as Pacifiers go, I was told to use Soothies or the Mamm brand but no ortho nipples! If you plan on introducing a "num num" then they also recommend you wait at least 4-6 weeks before doing so :)

Must Haves:

I would consider some of these things necessities as well as must haves that I've purchased..

Ergobaby Four-Position 360 Carrier $159.99
Luckily my girlfriend recommended and bought me this four way carrier because I guess I registered for a standard one! oops! Don't forget the newborn insert!
Levana Stella Video Monitor $189.99
After looking through TONS of reviews, especially since I'm a little bit of a tech geek, I decided on Levana. Summers Eve and Motorola are others that my fellow mommies swear by but the reviews were better overall on Levana, we'll see!

Baby Shusher: The Sleep Miracle
I've been told this will be a life saver and the best non-expensive investment I could make! Photographers also use this to assist in keeping babies calm in newborn shoots.

I have been back and forth between the typical Dr. Palmers Cocoa Butter and the Honest Co Organic Belly Balm for stretch marks. I have been lucky enough to not have any at 8.5 months but I also believe it is really just in your genetics whether you will or not. Better safe than sorry though!!

I also LOVE the belly buds and so does Peyton, She kicks and wiggles like crazy every morning until I put these things on! She strictly listens to classical or disney lullabies with MAYYYYBE a side of RiRi haha. ;)

And last but not least!!

Bumbleride Indie Stroller $499.99
I can't say enough about this stroller, EVERYONE recommends and I would highly suggest the one wheel in front style because you can easily maneuver the stroller with one hand! Not too much it's pretty and got cool colors. This was a gift from Rod's family and if you are interested let me know and I can see if I can get a discount code if there is enough attention!

Graco SnugRide Click Connect 35 $149.99
Ok, So I did a lot of research on this and yes I wanted it to be cute and fashionable but I also, MORE IMPORTANTLY, wanted it to be as light as possible. Both Maxi-Cosi and Peg-Prego are almost 9 lbs and this guy is 7.5lbs. It may only be a 1lb. difference but every pound counts! The Peg-Prego, Chicco and Graco are all the highest rated so it just depends on what you like :)

Hope this helps any ladies that are a little overwhelmed on where to start or what they'll need for the new little one!! I know it helped me from fellow bloggers, just to get a different opinion or if I was missing anything. :) I could definitely post more, like the Aden + Anais Swaddle blankets, Nursing covers and wraps but I'll just stop here. Please share if there are any must haves that are high on your list!
